    Russell T. Healey of Amherst, who helped raise funds for cancer research at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, died Sunday (July 26, 1998) in Children's Hospital after a long illness. He was 13. Born in Amherst, Russell and was a pupil at Sweet Home Middle School, where he was an honor student and participant in extracurricular activities. He also had attended Heritage Heights Elementary School. Russell followed with great interest the nation's space program. He also played football for the Sweet Home Cadets and baseball with Mel Ott Little League. He was an altar boy at St. Christopher's Catholic Church. He was active in the Ride for Roswell campaign, which raised money for the cancer facility. Survivors include his parents, Thomas R. and Catherine Healey; a brother, Ronald T., and a sister Lisa A., and a half-brother, Brian T., all of Amherst; his maternal grandmother, Clarabelle Eccleston of Warsaw; and his paternal grandfather, Thomas H. Healey of Hawthorne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Christopher's Church, 2660 Niagara Falls Boulevard, Town of Tonawanda. Prayers will be said at 8:45 in Amigone Funeral Home, 2600 Sheridan Drive, Town of Tonawanda. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
