Ruth Marie Pierson was born in Peoria, Illinois, to Mr and Mrs Walter Pierson. She attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority. She completed her college education when she moved to Fairfield, Connecticut and married professor Fedorchek.
