Introduction

It was around the early 1970's when my grandmother was contacted regarding her brother John Lungley. He had died in the war but she never new any details, he just didn't come back. She and my father were invited to La Herliere as guests of honour at a celebration. The is a monument to John in the village square. I visited this a couple of years ago during which a local man showed us where my great uncles body was hidden from the germans.
