Salvatore Carmelo Sbona is the son of Carmelo Sbona (1881-1949) and Marie Massella (1883-1931). He was born on February 6, 1918 in Middletown, Middlesex, Connecticut. He had siblings Angela (1906-1975), Santina (1911-2000), Samuel (1916-1989), Annie (born 1921), and Helen Sbona (1922-1996). He joined the military on June 26, 1942 and served in the Army until his discharge date of November 18, 1945. A few years later, he married Marian June Gunn (1920-1998) on June 14, 1947 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The couple moved to Seattle, Washington, USA in the 1950's and Salvatore resided there until his death on January 26, 1989.

Salvatore served in the Army until his discharge date of November 18, 1945.
