Sampson Curnow 1833 - 1881

Sampson Curnow was born in 1833 to Sampson Curnow and Jane Pengelly, and had a brother William Henry Curnow. He was in a relationship with Elizabeth Ann (Pearce) Curnow, and had children James Henry Curnow, Alfred Curnow, Edith (Curnow) Jeffs, Albert Edward Curnow, Frederick Pearce Curnow, and Emily Jane Curnow. Sampson Curnow died at age 47 years old on July 11, 1881 at Sandhurst in Bendigo, Greater Bendigo City County, VIC Australia.

    The Argus, Melbourne. 18th July 1881. Mr. Sampson Curnow, mining manager of the North Old Chum Company, Sandhurst, was accidentally killed on the 11th inst... .......... The Mount Alexander Mail. 13th July 1881. An inquest was held yesterday by the Sandhurst coroner , on the body of Sampson Curnow, who was killed at the North Old Chum mine on Monday, when the following verdict was returned by the jury:- "That on the 11th July, 1881, at the mine of the North Old Chum Company, Registered, the deceased, Sampson Curnow, the mining manager, was killed by a slab accidentally falling down the shaft of the said mine, and striking the deceased on the shoulder." The Ballarat Star, 13th July 1881. NEWS AND NOTES. By telegram from our Sandhurst correspondent, we learn that the inquest upon the remains of Mr. Sampson Curnow, whose death by accident......
