Sarah Anna Conkling
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Sarah Anna CONKLING of The Dalles, OR. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with Sarah likely in her 50's or 60's at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Sarah and her family:
Sarah Anna VAN TRUMP or TRUMP was b. 24 Mar 1844 in Ohio to parents Isiah VAN TRUMP (b. 9 Jan 1810 in Virginia-d. 10 Dec 1893 in Doniphan, NE – son of Jacob TRUMP and Christina POWLAS both born in Holland) and Lydia RICHARDS (1815-d. 1847 in Kenton, OH). Sarah was one of 5 children born to this couple including, Mary; Ruben; Sarah Ann; William Harrison; and Isiah C. VAN TRUMP, all born in Ohio between 1838 and 1847. After her Mother died in 1847 her Father remarried Jermina PARISH (b. 31 May 1830 in Ohio) in Wyandot Co. OH on 5 Jun 1848 and 7 more children were born including, Hiram; Menerva Jane; Ada Belsy; Francis Marion; Olive; Andrew Jackson; and Charles Edgar VAN TRUMP, all born in Iowa between 1849 and 1866.
Sarah married Hezekiah CONKLING or CONKLIN (b. 12 Jun 1843 in Shieldsville, IN-1926) on 20 Sept 1870 in New London, IA and together they had 5 children including, Clarence Edwin; Elta Isiah or Isaiah; Benton or Berton or Burt Elmer; Ernest Henry; and Mary Grace CONKLIN or CONKLING, all born between 1874 and 1884 in Albia, IA; Creston, IA; Malvern, IA; Greenwood, NE; and Avoca, IA respectively. Sarah died 30 Oct 1914 and is buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in The Dalles, OR.
