I don't know anything about her. She may have been a first wife of the Rev Thomas Allen, 1743-1820 known as "The Fighting Parson." His parish was in Pittsfield, MA and it is said that during the Revolutionary War, he rounded up 200 citizens to fight the British in a particular battle. Sarah Ingersall is written on our tree next to his name. She came from Stockbridge, MA, a town near Pittsfield. MA. Rev Allen is my 4th great grandfather, the grandfather, in fact, of the wife of the Rev. Henry Boynton Smith. A majority of my male ancestors were Protestant preachers, but there doesn't seem to be any of that religious fervor left in our generation. Just me—I study Near Death Experiences. They are proof that there is an afterlife! So I do take after my ancestors, after being raised by atheists!
