Sarah R. Mathis (Shake) was never a Shumaker. I'm their oldest daughter and I married a Shumaker gentleman. When living in Martinsville Indiana I recall mother and some of the other church ladies having bridge or similar card game in our home. We dressed in our Sunday best hats gloves you would have thought it was a tea party.

Mother graduated from the Odon High School in Odon, Indiana in the late 1950's.

She married an USAF veteran upon his returning from Alaska. James Johnnie Mathis was his name.

She was a housewife and homemaker. She enjoyed music, family gatherings, church we attended a Tabernacle.

She passed away at a early age just in her 30"s. She and dad read to me from the bible. The Baptist Tabernacle but I recall Oral Roberts praying via the telephone with her.

Mother passed away December 1971. Her name never was Shumaker. Sarah Rosanna (Shake) Mathis. Her funeral was at the Poindexter funeral home in Odon Indiana with graveside service and burial at Walnut Hill Cemetery.ADVERTISEMENT BYLooking for more information?
