Sedgie Frank Melancon Sr. of Saint Amant, Ascension County, LA was born on February 9, 1942 in Bogalusa, Washington County to Frank Raymond Melancon and Beulah Erma (Duncan) Melancon. Sedgie Melancon had siblings Jesse August Melancon, Melvin J. Melancon, and Malcolm Melancon, Sr.. He married Pamela (LoCicero) Vicknair-Melancon, and they had children Sedgie Frank "Fuzzy" Melancon, Jr. and Chance Wayne Melancon. He would also marry Peggy Melancon-Hogan, and they had a child Kellye Jo (Melancon) Hutchinson. Sedgie Melancon died at age 65 years old on March 2, 2007.

    Sedgie Frank Melancon Sr. -- MELANCON SR., SEDGIE FRANK A retired assistant construction manager for the Baton Rouge area of Wyatt Field Services and a resident of St. Amant, he died Friday, March 2, 2007, in St. Amant. He was 65 and a native of Bogalusa. Visiting will be at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Sunday, March 4, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday, March 5, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Interment in Hope Haven Cemetery in Gonzales. He is survived by his wife, Pamela LoCicero Melancon of St. Amant; mother, Beulah Duncan Melancon of Duplessis; a daughter, Kellye Jo Hutchinson of Watson; son, Chance Melancon of Denham Springs; two stepsons, Jay Vicknair and Matt Vicknair, both of St. Amant; two brothers, Malcolm Melancon of St. Amant and Jesse Melancon of Duplessis; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Raymond Melancon; a son, Sedgie Frank Melancon Jr.; and a brother, Melvin Melancon. Published in The Advocate on 3/4/2007
