Selina (Huxtable) Smithies was born in 1847 to Dr. William Jones Huxtable and Ann Huxtable Hicks, and had siblings Albert Henry Huxtable and Sophia Sarah Jones Huxtable. She was in a relationship with Wesley Witt Smithies, and had children Edith Allen ( Smithies, Arthur Smithies, William Wesley Smithies, Frederick Smithies, Ethel Simmons ( Smithies, and John Smithies. Selina Smithies died at age 87 years old on November 27, 1935 in Hobart, TAS Australia.

  • Obituary

    The Mercury, Hobart, 29 November, 1935. Mrs. Selina Smithies, formerly a resident of Lindisfarne, died at Hobart on Wednesday at the age of 88 years, and her funeral took place privately yesterday. Mrs. Smithies was the widow of Mr. W. W. Smithies, and was a daughter of the late Dr. Huxtable, of Evandale. For the past 30 years Mrs. Smithies had lived at Lindisfarne in retirement. The family of five, all of whom survive her include two daughters, Mesdames H. H. Allen and E. Simmons, and three sons, Messrs. W., J.W. and F. Smithies.
