    Sheridan Comerate(April 11th, 1928-April 16,1973)was an American actor famous for his film roles in 3:10 to Yuma, and Live Fast, Die Young. In television, some memorable appearances came in episodes in series like the Twilight Zone(as a gas station attendant in "Walking Distance"), and in " The Millionaire" where Comerate portrays a man who survives a horrific plane crash. In 1928, in the year that Sheridan Comerate was born, aviatrix Amelia Earhart, age 31, became the first woman to fly solo across North America and back in August. In June, she had been part of a 3 man crew that flew the Atlantic Ocean but since she had no instrument training, she couldn't fly the plane - she kept the flight log. The North American flight became one of her many "firsts" as a female pilot.

With the support of Canada and the United Kingdom, the Project came to employ more than 130,000 people and cost nearly $2 billion. Julius Robert Oppenheimer, a nuclear physicist born in New York, led the Los Alamos Laboratory that developed the actual bomb. The first artificial nuclear explosion took place near Alamogordo New Mexico on July 16, 1945.
