Shimpei Sakaguchi's parents were Katsubei Sakaguchi (1866 - 1968), born in Japan, and Hisano Sakaguchi (1890 - 1967), also born in Japan. He had siblings Kay, Miyo, Fujioy, Henry, Ray, Goro, Masato, and two other sisters. Shimpei married June K Sakaguchi (1920 - 1990) and they had son J. G. - James Gary -Sakaguchi (1951 - 1989) and daughter, Laura.. In the early 1950's Shimpei was in the United States Naval Reserve. He had attended the University of Colorado in Boulder and became a surgeon.
