The Chattanoogan Thurs June 14 2001 Shirley M. Bowman, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001. A native of Chattanooga, she was born March 23, 1949, to the late Joe and Mamie Bowman. Two brothers, James and Joe Bowman and one sister, Sarah Bowman, also preceded her in death. Survivors include three daughters, Quintana Y. (Lorenzo) Goldthreate, Nashville, Charlette S. (Elmickyo) Duncan, Memphis, and DeAndrea L. Fuqua, Chattanooga; two stepsons Robert (Amy) Fuqua Jr. and Ricky Fuqua, both of Knoxville; six grandchildren, Kevin Lawrence Jr., Alexis Woods, Justin Claybrook, Jamecia Fuqua, Kenya Fuqua and Jalon A. Duncan; six brothers, J.P., Lee (Barbara), Gordon, Calvin (Bonnette), McDaniel (Harriet) and Melvin Bowman of Chattanooga; eight sisters, Essie (Clinton) Cosper, Rutha Banks, Mary (Rainey) Woods, Brenda (Arthur) Garth of Chattanooga, Jacqueline, Angela and Kathy Bowman of Talladega, Ala., and Elizabeth (Rev. O.R.) Jackson of St. Louis, Mo. The funeral will be 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. William H. Ryan Jr. and the Rev. Will A. Duncan, Gallatin, Tenn., officiating. Interment in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. The body will lie in state today after noon at Taylor Funeral Home until one hour before the service.
