    Shirley Jean Philie PEMBROKE Shirley Jean Philie (Marcus), of Pembroke, passed away on September 8, 2008 at the Milton Hospital at the age of 82. She was the wife of the late Albert Al Philie. Mother of Patrick M. Philie of Pembroke, William J. Ackerly of Worcester, Allan Vantangoli of Ludlow and the late Gina Gagnon, Carol J. Mencer, Arthur R. Mencer, and Robert Higgins. Sister of Irving Marcus of Missouri and the late Joseph Marcus. Many grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive her. Shirley was born in Weymouth, and raised in Rockland; she was a graduate of Rockland HS Class of 1943. She worked at Dean College in the cafeteria, was a homemaker, and a nurse’s aide. Shirley was a Chaplin for the American Legion Womens Auxiliary Post 143 and a member of the Rockland and Hanover Grange. She was an avid music lover and singer. Shirley believed very strongly in Human Rights. Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2008 from 4-8 p.m. at the Shepherd Funeral, 7 Mattakeesett St., (Rte 14 Pembroke Center). A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2008 at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:45 p.m. For online condolences go to shepherdfuneralhome.com
