Sidney James Duckmanton of Narrabeen, Northern Beaches Council County, NSW Australia was born on March 24, 1895 in Dunkeld, VIC to Sarah Ellen (Robinson) Duckmanton and Arthur Frederick Duckmanton. He had siblings Irene Duckmanton, John Frederick Duckmanton, Elizabeth Duckmanton, and Winifred Ellen Duckmanton. Sidney Duckmanton married Rita Marguerite Crowder in 1921, and died at age 79 years old in July 1974 at War Veterans' Home in Narrabeen, NSW.

In 1895, in the year that Sidney James Duckmanton was born, on March 15th, in County Tipperary, Ireland, Michael Cleary killed his wife of 8 years, Bridget, and burned her body. His defense was that his "wife" was a changeling that was left in his real wife's place when she was abducted by fairies. He was nonetheless convicted and imprisoned for manslaughter. He spent 15 years in prison.
