    Sigrid Seppala, known variously as Sigrid Larson, Sigrid Putney, Sigrid Barber, and Sigrid Hanks, was born to Leonard Seppala and Constance Seppala in Alberta, Canada. Her father was born in Norway and her mother was born in Belgium. Sigrid F. Larson Putney, also known as Sigrid Felicia Seppala, married Donald Robert Barber on December 8, 1945 in Seattle Washington. While she was married to Donald, Sigrid applied for United States citizenship. At this time, Sigrid said that she had one child, Ronald Sigurd Larson, who was born on March 5, 1942, in Berkeley, California. On October 10, 1959 Sigrid Barber, also known at that time as Sigrid Seppala, married Bill L. Hanks in San Francisco, California.

Dean died, his passenger and the other driver survived.
