Simon Mangi 1812 - 1866

Simon Mangi was born in 1812 at Ruskodorf, Banat, Hungary (now Serbia) House Numbers 13 and 63, in Ernsthausen Servia (formery Hungary) to Georg Mangi and Katharina Matlin. He married Marianna Dort/Torth, and they were married until Marianna's death on September 17, 1857. Simon Mangi died at age 53 years old on May 25, 1866 at Ruskodorf, Hungary (now known as Rusko Selo, Serbia) in Ernsthausen Serbia (formerly Hungary).

In 1812, in the year that Simon Mangi was born, on February 27th, the English poet Lord Byron gave his first address as a member of the British House of Lords. He spoke in defense of the Luddite violence against industrialism in his home county of Nottinghamshire. Luddites were primarily textile workers and weavers who thought that machinery was being used as a way to keep workers from achieving fair practices and wages.

In 1829, he was 17 years old when on May 6th, the patent for an instrument called an "accordion" was applied for by German citizen Cyrill Demian. The patent described the accordion this way: "Its appearance essentially consists of a little box with feathers of metal plates and bellows fixed to it, in such a way that it can easily be carried, and therefore traveling visitors to the country will appreciate the instrument."
