    Sofie (aka Sofija ; maiden name Zajac) was the oldest of 7 children. She lived in a village near Lviv, Ukraine. Her first husband died during WWII. In the late 1940's she traveled with her sister Kateryna to Munich, Germany. She met/married her second husband, Wasyl Majdan in Germany. They had one daughter born in Germany. They emigrated to the U.S. in 1949 and lived for a short time in Clymer, PA. In the early 1950's they moved to Cleveland, OH and lived there the remainder of their lives.
