Sorrell Booke's Biography
Introduction
Has two children: Alexandra and Nicholas
Was only slightly overweight and had to wear a fat suit to play Boss Hogg on Dukes of Hazzard, making him five feet around.
According to John Schneider in the DVD commentary for the first episode of "The Dukes Of Hazzard", Sorrell could speak fluent Japanese. He recounts that in one episode, Booke and guest star Andrew Robinson, who also spoke Japanese, played a trick on James Best (Sherriff Roscoe P. Coltrane) where they spoke all of their dialog in a scene in Japanese, thus leaving Best confused.
Ex-wife, Miranda, is the daughter of Hubert Renfro (H.R.) Knickerbocker (1898-1949), a Pulitzer prize-winning war correspondent.
Was a close friend of his Shérif, fais-moi peur! (1979) costar James Best (1926-2015).
A graduate of Yale and Columbia University, Booke spoke five languages fluently. This would have been an asset to him as an officer in the counterintelligence services during the Korean War.

In 1930, in the year that Sorrell R Booke was born, on August 6th, N.Y. Supreme Court Judge Joseph Crater went through papers in his office, destroyed some of them, withdrew all his money from the bank - $5,150, sold his stock, met friends at a restaurant for dinner and disappeared after getting into a taxi (or walking down the street - his friends' testimony later changed). His disappearance was reported to the police on September 3rd - almost a month later. His wife didn't know what happened, his fellow Justices had no idea, and his mistresses (he had several) said that they didn't know. While his disappearance was front page news, his fate was never discovered and after 40 years the case was closed, still without knowing if Crater was dead or alive.
In 1952, at the age of 22 years old, Sorrell was alive when on February 6th, George VI of England died from a coronary thrombosis and complications due to lung cancer. His eldest daughter, age 25, immediately ascended the throne as Elizabeth II and her coronation was on June 2 1953.
In 1975, at the age of 45 years old, Sorrell was alive when on September 5th, Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme tried to assassinate President Ford in Sacramento, California. She failed when her gun wouldn't fire. President Ford escaped a second assassination attempt 17 days later on September 22 when Sarah Jane Moore tried to shoot him in San Francisco. A bystander saw her raise her arm, grabbed it, and the shot went wild.
In 1987, at the age of 57 years old, Sorrell was alive when on October 19th, stock exchanges around the world crashed. Beginning in Hong Kong then spreading to Europe, the crash then hit the United States. It was called Black Monday. The Dow Jones fell 508 points to 1,738.74 (22.61%).
In 1994, in the year of Sorrell R Booke's passing, on May 6th, former political prisoner, lawyer, and activist Nelson Mandela was elected the first black President of South Africa. He was 75 when he was elected and he served one five-year term.
