    The hardest working, gentle, proud man - proud of his heritage and ever grateful to the USA for giving him the American Dream. Soter, more commonly known as Sam, and his wife and our wonderful mother, Mersina, had 4 children: James, Despoina, John and Zoe. John passed as an infant. James passed at the age of 37 from heart disease. They made sure that we children had the best upbringing possible. Dad fiercely loved Alaska. He was a true pioneer.

In 1895, in the year that Soter D Chiamis was born, on March 15th, in County Tipperary, Ireland, Michael Cleary killed his wife of 8 years, Bridget, and burned her body. His defense was that his "wife" was a changeling that was left in his real wife's place when she was abducted by fairies. He was nonetheless convicted and imprisoned for manslaughter. He spent 15 years in prison.
