  • Introduction

    United States Army General. He served as the Chief Signal Officer of the United States Army from 1947 to 1951 after filling that role during World War II on the staff of General Douglas MacArthur. During the siege at Corregidor and Bataan in the Philippine Islands during the war, he was the one to report that the islands were holding. He earned the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star Medal, and the Legion of Merit. His radio program "Voice of Freedom" was broadcast around the world.
