Stanley Joseph Prudeaux (Buck) was born on March 9th, 1923, the eldest of three children, to the union of Marks John Prudeaux and Noela Marie Moret in New Orleans, Louisiana. His father being a Pullman porter was seldom home and directed Stanley, at the tender age of eight, to take care of the mother and younger siblings while he was away. Taking his father’s direction to heart, Stanley had looked after his mother until her passing and his sisters until the end of his life. At the age of 6 or 7, Stanley could be found on the street corner selling newspapers. In later years he could be found with his uncle Gus rehabbing houses. Stanley never got around to finishing high school. At the age of eighteen, just 2 months after his birthday, Stanley entered the armed forces as a soldier in the US Army. With an eagle eye and excellent math skills he was recognized as an exceptional weatherman/forecaster. After his military obligation was complete Stanley joined the merchant marines and traveled the world. Stanley met the love of his life, Lister Wall, at a Thanksgiving celebration on Fort Tyson Army base in Tennessee. Stanley and Lister Mae Wall were married on November 2, 1945 in Paducah, Kentucky, where they made the home for almost 20 years. A home and house Stanley built for his family from the ground up. They were blessed with five children (Rosann, Rene’, Jacinta, Benita & Mark) to their union. During that time Stanley worked as a shop teacher for the high school there in Paducah and started his career with the US Post Office. Stanley later, 1962, moved his family to Pacoima, California and he continued working for the US Post Office until his retirement in 1980. He also ran a towing service for several years allowing his youngest son to scavenge through the vehicles to start his own entrepreneurship. After his retirement Stan looked forward to the monthly luncheons with his work associates (Lois, Willie, Ruth, Beverly, Rudy & Ponche) and his weekly gatherings with his poker buddies (Tony, Ed and Jose') and the various systems he utilized to continue financial endeavors until at which time his own health declined. Stanley and Lister were married 62 years, almost 63, prior to her passing in June of 2008. Although Lister was severely incapacitated the last few years of her life, Stanley stood by her always. Stanley always did whatever he could do for the betterment of his family. November 30th 2010, Stanley was admitted to Kaiser Hospital to repair an aortic aneurysm. It seemed he was recovering nicely. However, Monday morning, December 26th 2010, he was rushed to the hospital with severe chest pains. Doctors found a blood clot in his lungs with more in his legs and performed an umbrella screening procedure to prevent the clots from traveling further. He was also diagnosed with acute angina and placed on oxygen. His recovery had been 1 step forward and 4-5 steps back. Friday, February 10th 2010, he stated “He had come to realize that his time is coming to an end and he’s tried to take care of everything”. He’s was so amazing… He’s still trying to take care of his OLD children. He had always been so wonderful, always trying to take care of those he felt needed his assistance, even on his deathbed. On Friday, February 17th 2012, Stanley lost his battle with mortal life. Having made his peace with God, Christ came to retrieve him as one of his own and escort him home to his/our Heavenly Father. Stanley leaves behind to cherish his memory; his 2 sons Rene’ Ivan Prudeaux and Mark Phillip Prudeaux, his 3 daughters J. Rosann Prudeaux, Jacinta Ann Holley (Robert) and Benita Smith, 6 grandchildren; Miyonda Smith, Jesse Smith (Kimara), Dante’ Collins (Erin), Damien Prudeaux (Cynthia), Terry Smith and Marley Prudeaux and 12 Great grandchildren; DeShawn Smith, Jumah Gates, Kaliya Collins, Sierra Smith, Yusuf Gates, Elijah Collins, Terry Smith, Damien Prudeaux Jr., Ilianna Prudeaux, Leilani Prudeaux, Noah Collins and Makayo Smith, 2 sisters; Levonia George and Lorraine Dorsey, along with a host of other loving family and friends.
