Steve Hoholik died at age 78 years old on April 15, 1988 at Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility 520 Main St, in Manistique, and was buried circa 1988 at Fairview Cemetery in Manistique.

  • Introduction

    Was a bachelor all his life. Worked at local paper mill in Manistique for most of his life as an electrician. Was in us navy during WW2 as chief electrician on landing ship transports. Saw action at Normandy, Sicily, and JAPAN. BIGGEST EVENT WAS MEETING bing Crosby at Chapman College in California while going to electrician school in early 1940s. After war, had a cattle farm and trained his nephews how to hunt and dress whitetail deer.

    Uncle Steve was navy electrician on lsts in WW2. Saw action in Sicily, Normandy, and Sapporo, Japan. LST 313 bombed during Sicily invasion. Uncle Steve got out but many marines were killed in fire from when bomb went off. He wouldn’t admit it, but in years after 1945, had shell shock or ptsd, and was a secret beer drinker to cope with bad nightmares.
