Introduction

Steven's father was Mr. Geist who was a CPA in Orlando. I believe this has to be the same Steven Geist that I was friends with in Gainesville, Florida. He attended the University of Florida. I knew him from 1971 up until the time my boyfriend (at the time), Mark Koslow and I moved back to the Palm Beach County area in 1977. He actually drove back with us and we dropped him off at his parent's home in or near the Orlando area. His father was a CPA. Whether his mother or father are living at this time I don't know. My ex-husband, Mark, attended his wedding back in 1985 in the Orlando area. Steven was a good person, a great cook, and a good friend. He practically lived at our house and was a roommate at two different houses. I haven't had any contact with him since he worked at Disney in Orlando, which was quite some years ago. May be Rest In Peace. Gigi Koslow-Murray P.S.-I still have his Joy of Cooking Cook Book he loaned me back in the mid 70s

In 1951, in the year that Steven L Geist was born, on April 5th, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg (husband and wife) were sentenced to death for treason. They were executed on June 19th. American citizens, they were convicted of spying for the Soviet Union. Their two young sons were adopted by a high school teacher and his wife.

In 1964, by the time he was merely 13 years old, in June, three young civil rights workers - Andrew Goodman and Mickey Schwerner from New York City, and James Chaney from Meridian, Mississippi - were kidnapped and murdered in Mississippi. Working with "Freedom Summer", they were registering African-Americans to vote in the Southern states. Their bodies were found two months later. Although it was discovered that the White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, the Neshoba County Sheriff's Office and the Philadelphia, Mississippi Police Department were involved, only 7 men were convicted and served less than six years.
