One Melbourne man is dead and another is in jail Sunday following a hit and run accident in Campbell County.
Police were called to Four Mile Road for a report of a person struck by a vehicle, just minutes after 7:15 Sunday morning. When crews arrived they found 36-year-old Steven Zeigler dead.
The M.A.R.T Team and Campbell County Crime Scene Unit began investigating Zeigler's death, which led them to Joshua Lee Moyer. Police say they followed tire tracks and leaky transmission fluid to the 27-year-old's driveway. Moyer was taken to the police station for questioning and then charged with manslaughter.
Police say they believe Moyer was under the influence of alcohol when his truck hit and killed Zeigler. Zeigler was walking home from work at the time. Zeigler's girlfriend Tabatha Sendelbach found his body in the ditch, after she woke up and realized he hadn't returned home. Moyer was sentenced to 6 yrs and is only serving 3 thats our justice system
