Family Court Judge Sylvia Jaffin Liese, a retired Family Court judge and a former assistant district attorney in Manhattan, died Sunday at her home in Tucson, Ariz. She was 76 years old. She was born in the Bronx and was a 1930 graduate of Barnard College. She graduated 15 years later from the Columbia University School of Law. Soon after, Mrs. Liese joined the staff of Frank S. Hogan, the District Attorney in Manhattan. Much of her work for the next 10 years was concerned with young offenders and teen-age drug addicts. Mrs. Liese was appointed to the Family Court, then known as the Domestic Relations Court, in 1955 by Mayor Robert F. Wagner. She served until her retirement in 1971. Mrs. Liese is survived by her husband, Harry; a daughter, Sandra Warshaw of Manhattan; a son, Barry Singer of Chappaqua, N.Y.; a stepson, Thomas Liese of Brooklyn; a sister, Nicki Galpeer of Hartsdale, N.Y.; a brother, George M. Jaffin of Manhattan, and nine grandchildren.
