Teddy Maybrier was white. He was born on August 12, 1905 to parents George Maybrier (1859-1936) and Ada Greene (1884-1972). His mother Ada was born on March 8, 1884 and grew up in Nicholas County Kentucky. She passed away on August 7, 1972 in Cincinnati, Ohio. His father George was born on June 15, 1859 and grew up in Bracken, Kentucky. He was also married to Elizabeth Richey (1870–1892) whom he married on March 22, 1888 in Nicholas, Kentucky, USA. They had a son together Robert Thurman Maybrier (1888-1962). George passed away on January 1, 1936 in Bourbon, Kentucky, USA.

He had one half brother Robert Thurman Maybrier (1888-1962). Teddy completed a grammar school education.
