Theodore J. Wudkwych was born to Maximillian Wodkiewicz (1866 - 1948) and Maryann, or Marian, Waskiewicz (1872 - 1954). His father and his mother were born in Poland. Teddky had four siblings: Stella, Edward Chasmer, Sopnla, and Leonia Wudkewych.

Teddky Wudkwykkch married Stella Szhost (1906 - 1999) on October 7, 1924 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. They had three daughters: Marion, Dolores, and Leona Wudkwych. On his 1942 World War II draft card, Teddy was described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall and as weighing 175 pounds. He had brown eyes, gray hair, and a "light" complexion. He also had a scar near his left eye.
