Telesphore Bissonnette was born on January 10, 1859 in Canada to Bruno Bissonnette and Aurélie (Chagnon) Bissonnette, and had siblings Albert Bissonnette, Edmond Bissonnette, I, Eveline Aurélie (Bissonnette) Geoffrion, Adolphe Bissonnette, and Anna Alexandrine (Bissonnette) Brunelle. He married Azelie Bissonnette (Née Chaput), and had children Aristide Bissonnette and Raoul Bissonnette. Telesphore Bissonnette died at age 90 years old on November 24, 1949.
