He married Annie Margaret (McPhail) Atkins, and had children Neil Atkins, Leslie Philip Atkins, Leslie Phillip Atkins, Frank Atkins, George Atkins, Allan Atkins, Annie Margaret Atkins, and Mavis Jean Atkins. Thomas Atkins died at age 93 years old in 1960 in Warrnambool.
