He lived in Denver until he enlisted in the United States Army on March 31, 1944, at Fort Logan in Colorado. During his time in the military, Haddican did not receive any branch assignment and held the rank of Private in the Selectees (enlisted men) category. On January 14, 1967 Thomas married Mary June Udell (1917–1993) in Bremerton, Kitsap, Washington, USA. He was also married to Elva Mae Benjamin Wilson (1922-2005) and had two children together. Thomas Haddican passed away on January 30, 1983 in the state of Washington and was buried back in his hometown of Denver, Denver County, Colorado, USA.

As a private in the United States Army during World War II, Haddican would have undergone basic training and then possibly assigned to a specific unit based on his skills and abilities. After the war ended in 1945, Haddican would have been discharged from the army, assuming he had completed his full term of service. If he had served for the entire duration of the war plus six months, his service would have ended in late 1946.
