Percy was widowed in 1964 and subsequently had lived for a few years with his youngest daughter Maureen in America. Towards the end of his life he came back to Northants where his eldest son Tom, youngest son Don and elder daughter Pat lived. He suffered from senility and spent some time in mental institutions in Northampton (St Andrews hospital and St Crispins hospital). I can only remember meeting him once at my grandparents home (his son Tom was my grandfather). He was introduced as our great grandpa but I cant remember him saying anything to us - he must have been in his early eighties at the time. I remember him having very white hair but didn't think he was much like my own grandfather who was a lovely man.
