He had siblings James Joseph (1891-1944), Catherine (1896-1926), Florence (1897-1981), George Joseph (1899-1978), and Mildred Caroline Hallahan (1907-1955). He lived in both Kings, New York and Queens, New York. On July 10, 1942 he enlisted in the US Army and served as a Sergeant until his discharge date of November 1, 1945. Thomas married Evelyn Morris (1905-1979) on November 30, 1943 in Sebastian, Arkansas, United States. They seperted and he married again in 1967 to Katherine Agnes Riddle (1907-1976).
