My grandfather saw Clarence soon after he had died:
I am working with the community of Bavay in Northern France to help them tell the story of their war dead.
My Grandfather Captain Thomas Westmacott liberated the small town of Bavay in northern France where Clarence lies buried. We know he has family as someone has left a poppy there. Tom comments on finding 'men of the North Staffs, their bodies still warm' piled up outside a billet which they had just vacated and he had just arrived to occupy. The poor souls had been hit by a shell just days before the end of WW1
The community in Bavay honoured Clarence's memory this 11 November would very much like to make contact with any family members to offer their thanks. I can be contacted via my website at www.interpretaction.com.
