Thomas James Phares was born on July 17, 1851 at Moundville, Hale Co., AL to Isaac Phares Jr. and Martha Ellen Johnston, and had siblings Robert M. Phares, Anderson Coleman "Cain" Phares, and Isaac Sherman Phares. He married Sarah Jane Clary, and had a child Doctor Berry "Doc" Phares. Thomas Phares died at age 70 years old on June 22, 1922 at Moundville, Hale Co., AL, and was buried on June 23, 1922 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Moundville, Hale County, Alabama United States.
