Thomas Warnecke died at age 46 years old on May 2, 1917 in Armentières, Nord County, Hauts-de-France France, and was buried at Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery Armentieres.

In 1889, when he was 19 years old, on May 31st, the South Fork Dam collapsed. Located in western Pennsylvania, the dam failed - sending more than 20 million tons of water into the towns below it.
