Thomas is the child of Elias R Goodson (1787-1850) and Mary Ann Goodson (1792-1833). He had siblings Emily (1810-1868), Russell Wade (1821-1889), Margaret (1826-1858), Robert E (1828-1898), Fancis Marion (died 1938), and Matilda Goodson. He married Elizabeth Stewart (1826-1912) in 1846 and had children Eliza Jane (1848-1922), Thomas Jefferson (1850-1915), Narl (1852-1880), Francis Marion (1857-1938), and Josephine Isabell Goodson (1866-1935). Thomas Goodson died in either 1859 or 1870 in the state of Louisiana.
