He married Jacqueline Mary Ray on May 15, 1971 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California and they later divorced in 1982 in Los Angeles. They had a child Kevin Scott Selleck. He also married Jillie Joan Mack on August 7, 1987 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County. They had a child Hannah Margaret Selleck.
