Townsend Willis Leek was born on December 23, 1817 in Islip, Suffolk County, New York United States to Philip Leek and Ruth Ryder, and had siblings Elias Leek, David Leek, Stephen Leek, Benjamin Woodruff Leek, Smith Watts Leek, and John Ryder Leek. He married Ann Louisa Fowler, and they had children John A. Leek, Benjamin Leek, and Willis Leek. He married Ruth Cornell, and they had children Maria Leek and William Leek. Townsend Leek died at age 72 years old on December 28, 1889 in Douglaston, Queens County.
