Varley had one older brother, Donald Robert Lang (born 1905). Varley was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army. Varley Lang married Gilda Olivia Orlando Bland (born 1909) on October 27, 1937, in Clarendon, Virginia.     VARLEY H. LANG Easton - Varley H. Lang of Tunis Mills, Easton, died on Monday, June 6, 1994 at Memorial Hospital< Easton. He was 82. Born June 1, 1912, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Frank Nolan Howe and Ada Smith Lang. After graduating from Johns Hopkins University, where he received his Ph.d. in English literature, he taught at Johns Hopkins and also in Albany, New York. In 1954, he retired from teaching and he and his wife moved to Tunis Mills where he began a career as a waterman, until retirement in the late 1980s. He was a World War II Army veteran. Mr. Lang is survived by his wife, the former Helen Sanderlin; and a brother, Donald Lang of Baltimore. His daughter, Lorna Lang, is deceased. Services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Newnam Funeral Home, Easton. - The Star-Democrat (Easton, Maryland) on Thursday, June 9, 1994.
