Vittorio Benevenia was born in Italy to Eugenio and Mary Benevenia. His father was born in Italy. Vittorio had a half-sibling Galliano Benevenia, also born in Italy. Because of changing borders, Victor later stated that both of his parents were born in Austria. In 1944, Victor, who signed the record Vittorio Benevenia, said that he had entered the United States on February 24, 1944 and a certificate petitioning for naturalization (#352026) was issued for that date. Victor had been on record as being in Brooklyn, New York in the 1930 census.
