Victor Mantovano married Nancy Desanguine and they had son Salvatore Antohny Mantovano. Victor died on July 24th, 1967 at the age of 71. He is buried in Long Island National Cemetery in Suffolk County, New York.

While the brothers had notified several newspapers of their attempt, only one - a local paper - covered it. After their 4th flight, a gust of wind caught the plane, turned it over, and totaled it.
