Victoria Reineke's History: 1907 - 1976

Uncover new discoveries and connections today by sharing about people & moments from yesterday.
  • Introduction

We are researching our maternal grandmother, whom we don't know. She abandoned our mother and uncle when they were very young. She never returned/contacted her children after the early '30's. We think Victoria Reineke may be our missing grandmother. Victoria's maiden name is Bishop, and was raised by relatives with the surname of Dennis in/around Harrodsburg, KY. Any info would be extremely welcome!

Over 361 miners were killed. Because there was no breathing apparatus at the time to help rescuers, recovery efforts were greatly hampered. It is considered the worst mining disaster in American history and led to government oversight in mining practices.

In 1920, when she was merely 13 years old, in September, a bomb exploded in the J.P. Morgan bank building in New York City, killing 30 people immediately - 8 later died due to their injuries - and injuring another 200. Italian anarchists were suspected of the bombing.
