Vincenzo “Jimmy” was my great uncle but was like a grandfather to me that I never had!
Uncle Jimmy was my grandfather I never had! He was a very kind and caring man. Him and his wife Enrica came to the United States from Italy in the early 1900’s. They settled in Providence Rhode Island owed a grocery store and then eventually moved to Philadelphia Pennsylvania. They opened up several grocery stores in the Philadelphia area. My father was their nephew and when my parents came from Italy and married in USA they moved to the West Oaklane area of Philadelphia a block away from his aunt and uncle Innamorato’s. My great aunt and uncle Vincenzo basically raised us while my parents worked. They have been gone for close to five decades now but there isn’t a holiday that goes by that I always remember them and the great love and affection they gave me and my siblings! I named my first born son, Vincent after my great uncle! They are always in my heart!
