Violet Delia Sell August 10, 1928 - February 24, 2011 Cumberland, MD - Violet Delia Sell, 82, of Cumberland, MD, died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the Allegany Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born August 10, 1928, in Cumberland, MD, Mrs. Sell was the daughter of the late John B. Turano and Delia G. (Bevacqua) Turano. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille V. Cinquegrani and Josephine Gray; two brothers, John A. Turano and Robert Turano; and a son, Richard Brian Sell. A graduate of Catholic Girls Central and Catherman’s Business School, Violet retired from the Cumberland Times News as assistant bookkeeper. She was a member of the Church of Saint Patrick and Saint Patrick’s Sodality. She was a former member of the Greater Cumberland Jaycee’s. In her earlier years, Violet was an accomplished vocalist in numerous minstrels in the Cumberland area. Violet is survived by her brother, Eugene E. Turano and his wife, Rosemary, and their daughters, Delia Turano Schadt and her husband, Stuart, Towson, MD; and Vanessa Turano Macsherry and her husband, Daniel, Cary, NC; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. Friends were received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Sunday, February 27, 2011, from 5:00 P.M., to 8:00 P.M. A Christian wake service was conducted at 7:30 P.M. Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated at the Church of Saint Patrick on Monday, February 28, 2011, at 11:00 A.M., with Father Eric Gauchat, O.F.M., Cap., as celebrant. Interment was in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were T. Edward Malloy, John J. McMullen, Greg Jenkins, Edward Mullaney, Dennis McCagh, and William Allen.ADVERTISEMENT BYLooking for more information?
