    Violet Marie (Robinson) Leckemby was born 21 Dec 1913 in the Smithfield area (Smithfield post office) of Fayette Co, PA, USA to George Patten Robinson and his wife Gertrude (Stewart) Robinson. George's parents Henry and Martha (West) Robinson, and Henry's parents Thomas (1817- 1909) and Harriet (Hayden) Robinson lived in the colonial brick house next door (this is a rural area, so it's maybe an 1/8 mile down the road, on what's now known as Gans Woodbridge Rd in a large brick and wood house. The wooden portion is now stone, and belongs (2014) to Peter Robinson, a descendant of Violet's uncle Thomas Robinson (1872-1952). Violet had two older sisters Freda (Robinson) Monahan and Alice (Robinson) Shaffer. She also had a half brother Guy Robinson Cooley, who was born when her father was a teenager. Guy's mother died about 2 months after his birth, and he was raised by his maternal grandparents until he was about 17, at which time he moved in with his father's family - Violet's family. Violet's grandmother - Gertrude (Stewart) Robinson's mother - Margaret Stewart lived with them in her later years. Violet married James Leckemby when she was about 18. Violet & James' children: 1. Raymond (died in infancy - had difficulty feeding after jaw broke during a difficult birth) 2. Richard 3. Jane (Leckemby) Kisko who is the grandmother of Riley Kisko Grimm Lampe 4 Rosemary Nell (Leckemby) Rockwell 5. Barbara Jean (Leckemby) Hinebaugh

In 1913, in the year that Violet R Leckemby was born, ratified in February the 16th Amendment, establishing a Federal income tax, became law. Previously, customs duties (tariffs) and excise taxes were the primary sources of federal revenue. With the passage of the 16th Amendment, incomes of couples exceeding $4,000, as well as those of single persons earning $3,000 or more, were subject to a 1% Federal tax (that would be about $98,000 and $74,000 now). Rates rose to 7% for incomes over half a million dollars. Less than 1% of the population was subject to income tax.

The circumstances of his death are still disputed. He did oppose Stalin as the next leader - nonetheless, Stalin won a power struggle and ruled as a Soviet dictator until his death in 1953.
