Walter Herbert Bridges of Ballarat, City of Ballarat County, VIC Australia was born in 1876 in Bungaree, Moorabool Shire County to Ellen Elisabeth (Long) Bridges and Walter Bridges. He had siblings Ellen Elizabeth (Bridges) Gilkes, Robert Bridges, Lavinia Jane (Bridges) Hay, Georgina Ann (Bridges) Heany, and Emily Mercy Bridges Beacham. He married Rose Dunn Bridges, and had children Walter Stanley Bridges, Burnice Lavinia Bridges, and Mercy Ellen Rose Bridges. Walter Bridges died at age 58 years old in 1935 in Ballarat, City of Ballarat County.

    The Argus, Melbourne. 22nd October 1909. RUN OVER BY TRAIN. MARYBOROUGH, Thursday. The victim of the accident at the Maryborough railway station on Wednesday night has been identified as Walter H. Bridges, a married man aged 33, of Ligar-street, Ballarat North. Bridges arrived in Maryborough on Tuesday night from Ballarat with the intention of proceeding to Serpentine on Wednesday to buy up some pigs for his brother-in-law, Mr. D. Smith, of Ballarat........ Owing to the shocking nature of his injuries both legs have been amputated.
