Walter Stratford Manders was my maternal grandfather and a wonderful man! Walter Stratford Manders was born to Walt Manders (1857 - 1939), born in Biringham, England and Carol Warden Andrews (1853 - 1912), born in Hobart, Australia. He had siblings Ada Mary, John "Jack" Warwick, Thomas Whillock, Cornelius, and Lily Manders. He also had a half-brother: Arthur George Warden. Walter Manders married Maud Ellen Jones (1894 - 1994) on October 12, 1917 in Toxteth Park, Lancashire, United Kingdom. They had three children, including John "Jack" and Frances Melba " Terry" Manders, and another daughter. Born in Cheltenham, Australia, Walter was in Birmingham, England by the age of six. He moved back to Cheltenham when he was 21 and by the age of 38, he was in Detroit Michigan. Then he moved to Queens, New York when he was in his 40s. Walter moved to Los Angeles, California when he was 58 and stayed there until he died in 1969.
