His father Ross Finnicum was born on November 5, 1892 in Erie, Illinois, USA and grew up in Newton, Whiteside, Illinois. After marrying Marjory in 1913, he resided in Richland, Montana and worked as a farmer. He later re-married to Frances Geraldine Harkins (1904–1975) in 1924 and resided in Clinton, Iowa, USA. Ross and Frances were parents to six children. He passed away on December 19, 1945 in Clinton, Clinton, Iowa, United States.
