  • Introduction

    Wayne Harwood Barnett's parents were William Barnett, born 1889 in Missouri, and Ella Barnett, born 1891 in Missouri. He had two sisters and a brother. In 1930, Wayne, who was 6, was living in Bevier, Missouri, on Argonne Street with his parents and siblings Evelyn, who was 14, William, who was 11, and Betty, who was age 1, all of whom were born in Missouri. Dad William was working his small farm. Wayne enlisted in World War II on February 15 1943 at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. He was single at the time and had no dependents. He enlisted as a private. After World War II, he then married Ellen Louise Watkins (1929 - 1970) and they had daughter Carol Ann Barnett in 1947, and son Wayne, who was born in 1949. By 1950, the family was living in St. Louis, Missouri and Wayne was working in an Iron Foundry. A World War II veteran of the Army, Wayne was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in Oak Park Illinois as part of his veteran's benefits.
